Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant made headlines when he did not cooperate by assisting Roy Williams with his bags. It is usually a moderate “hazing” that is done to rookie wide receivers. However, Bryant refused to help out Williams, which did not please Williams, and likely many others within the Cowboys organization.

Williams is a man who the Cowboys gave up both first and third round picks for. He has not been good at all, and will be lucky to be the #3 wide receiver by the end of the season. Bryant seems to always make his way into the headlines, but for the wrong reason. So far, this is a shaky start for Bryant. For the sake of Cowboys fans, they have to hope that he picks up the slack on the field, to make up for it.

Will the Mavericks get LeBron James? No. But they certainly will try. Despite not having the essential cap room, Dallas is determined to get a meeting with LeBron James. And if not, they will explore sign-and-trade scenarios with other top free agents such as Chris Bosh and Joe Johnson. Dallas never haves cap room, and will not once they re-sign Dirk Nowitzki. But Dallas buying a pick last week for three million dollars was a way of showing the obvious: Mark Cuban is not afraid to spend money, and it is respectable.

Roy Williams compares himself to Jerry Rice for the upcoming season.

“But this year, we’re connecting like Montana and Rice.” Yes, this was a quote from Dallas Cowboys wide-receiver Roy Williams. And yes, it was an idiotic statement that could not have come from the heart. After putting up big numbers in his Detroit Lions career, Williams has not lived up to the hype in his Cowboys career. After posting nine touchdowns in his last two seasons combined, Roy Williams has been far from Jerry Rice. And while we are at it, Joe Montana would have the right to vomit if Tony Romo was supposed to connect to anyone as if he was Montana.

Tony Romo is still deservedly known as a quarterback that would be a great coup for fantasy football. He finally got over the hump of winning a playoff game; it only took him a few tries. I bet he would still like to one day make an NFC Championship. But enough with the Romo bashing, as this statement did not come out of his mouth. I hope Roy Williams enjoys looking over at Miles Austin, who clearly took his #1 spot that he never really held. And the fact that the Cowboys selected Dez Bryant in round one of the draft should tell Williams that the Cowboys don’t see him as Jerry Rice. Unless they see him as an equivalent to Jerry Rice; when Rice played for the Seahawks. Do you remember how he did on the Seahawks? Neither do I.

Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing said Thursday he never used any banned substances even though he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug. Cushing was suspended for four games without pay last week for violating the NFL's drug policy. His appeal was denied.

Cushing confirmed he tested positive for HCG, a fertility drug that is on the league's banned substance list.

"The question of how it got into my body is still unclear," he said. "It's something that I'm very personally concerned about, just the fact that how it's there and what's going to determine it from happening again, and that's something we're going to have to medically investigate."

He said that after failing the test, he was told HCG can get in your body from injecting it or because of tumors. He said this information led him to believe he had tumors. He did not say what kind of tumors.

"I personally know I'm not injecting myself with anything," he said. "I played the whole season thinking this could not only be my last season, but my last year."

"Man, one big game," Parker said, smiling. "Look at all this."
Jefferson took it in stride. After all, he was probably glad Parker didn't woof or bark. Knowing he was among the guys Spurs coach Gregg Popovich thought "played like dogs" in the opener, Jefferson bounced back by scoring 17 of his 19 points in the first half to help San Antonio beat the Dallas Mavericks 102-88 in Game 2 on Wednesday night. The win ties their first-round series at a game apiece, with the next two games in the Alamo City.
"You could see it in his eyes that he was motivated," Parker said. "Nobody likes to play bad and he knew he didn't have a good first game. Knowing his mentality, we knew he was going to come back."

Dirk Nowitzki was amazed. Even after hitting nearly every shot he took, the San Antonio Spurs still weren't sending more defenders at him. So he kept shooting. And scoring.

Nowitzki made 12 of 14 shots and all 12 of his free throws, coming up with 36 points to carry the Dallas Mavericks to a 100-94 victory over the rival Spurs on Sunday night in Game 1 of their first-round series.
"Sometimes," Nowitzki said, "you have one of those nights where the basket is big."
The Spurs slowed Nowitzki in the first round last year by swarming him with two and sometimes three defenders. He was expecting it again this series and practically begged them to bring it on with the way he attacked whoever was covering him.

Yao Ming will never again be the 37-minute workhorse he has been in recent seasons. At this point, the Rockets would happily settle for 25 quality minutes a night next season. So there's your new reality. On the positive side, they'll have one of the NBA's best centers back on the floor.
His presence will be especially critical on the defensive end, where the Rockets have been — how can we phrase this gently? — not very good.
He's also a dominant low-post scorer, a great teammate and all-around good person. In other words, the Rockets are lucky to have him. If you ever thought they would be better off without him, this season probably convinced you otherwise.
